Our story began in Damascus, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, where sweet-making has long been woven into the city’s culture and hospitality.
In the historic Al-Midan quarter, Deeb bin Muhammad Kweider (1860–1951) laid the foundations of a family craft defined by patience, precision and generosity.
The knowledge passed from one generation to the next, and in 1969 the Kweider name was formally established—carrying an authentic Damascene tradition into the future.

From Damascus, the Kweider story travelled far beyond Syria. Through exhibitions and international events across the Arab world, Barcelona and New York, the family introduced authentic Damascene confectionery to new audiences—sharing not only its distinctive flavours, but also the craftsmanship and hospitality behind them.
Each appearance became part of a wider journey: preserving recipes and skills passed down through generations while sharing their character with new cultures.
These encounters helped carry the Kweider name from a cherished Damascene tradition to an internationally recognised expression of Syrian confectionery.

Today, the Kweider story continues at our home on Acton High Street in West London.
Here, we bring authentic Damascene sweet-making to the capital, preserving the craftsmanship, distinctive flavours and generous hospitality that have defined our family for generations.
